Aims and Scope

Japanese Journal of Public Health Physical Therapy is the official open access scientific journal of the Japan Society of Public Health Physical Therapy. The Journal publishes a broad range of original research on public health physical therapy epidemiology as it relates to human health, and aims to promote communication among those engaged in the field of public health physical therapy epidemiological research and those who use epidemiological findings.

Open Access License Policy

Japanese Journal of Public Health Physical Therapy applies the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC-BY License) to all works we publish (read the human-readable summary or the full license legal code) on April 1, 2013. Under the terms of the CC-BY License, authors retain ownership of the copyright for their work but must allow anyone to download, reuse, reprint, modify, distribute, and/or copy articles in Japanese Journal of Public Health Physical Therapy, as long as the original authors and source are properly credited.

No further permission is required from the authors or publisher.

In most cases, appropriate attribution can be provided by simply citing the original article and providing the license terms, as in the following

example:

Fujino, Yoshihisa et al. (2013) Taxation Categories for Long-term Care Insurance Premiums and Mortality Among Elderly Japanese: A Cohort Study. Journal of Epidemiology 23(1):41-46

doi:10.2188/JJPHPT.JE20120011, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 Unported License.

If an item you plan to reuse is not part of a published article (e.g., an item created by a third party and quoted in the article), it should not be considered licensed for reuse under the CC-BY license unless otherwise noted. In such cases, you can only reuse an item under copyright exceptions such as fair use or quotation, except as stated in the applicable copyright law or any license terms indicated in the original work in which the item appeared. The CC-BY license was developed to facilitate open access to and free use of original works of all types. Applying this standard license to a work will ensure that it is freely and openly available.

Copyright Policy

Copyright Transfer and Licensing Information

Copyright Transfer

JJPHPT asks all authors of articles for its journals, magazines, and books to sign a Transfer of Copyright. In doing so, an author transfers ownership of his or her article or book to JJPHPT. Ownership of copyright gives JJPHPT through the J-STAGE the right to publish the article and to defend against improper use (or even theft) of the article. It also permits JJPHPT to mount the article online or to use the article in other forms, such as when a journal article becomes part of a content collection or another derivative product.

JJPHPT needs copyright for an article because, as publisher, the society is in the best position to defend the article legally. In addition, transfer of copyright assures JJPHPT that the work in question is entirely the author's own. Once again, the purpose of transfer of copyright is not to prevent the author from reuse of his or her own work, as long as this does not involve republication in a competing journal or other competing resource.

If you send a manuscript to one of JJPHPT's peer-reviewed journals, you will be given the opportunity during submission to agree to our electronic transfer of copyright, or our open access publishing agreement. You should print and send a hard copy of the below forms.

Open Access Licenses

Open Access Publishing Agreement

JJPHPT's "Copyright Transfer and Open Access Publishing Agreement" (OAPA) is the default option for most authors when publishing in one of our fully open access journals or when opting for open access in our hybrid journals. All articles published under our OAPA are freely accessible, while copyright is transferred to JJPHPT. Authors may post the published version of their article to their personal website, institutional repository, or a repository required by their funding agency. Authors and readers may use, reuse, and build upon the article, or use it for text or data mining, as long as the purpose is non-commercial and appropriate attribution is maintained.

Creative Commons Licensing

JJPHPT is aware that some authors, as a condition of their funding, must publish their work under a Creative Commons license. We therefore offer a CC BY license for authors who indicate that their work is funded by agencies that we have confirmed have this requirement. We ask that authors enter their funder(s) during the manuscript submission process and we use that information to determine whether a CC BY license is mandated. If so, that option will automatically be selected, and the appropriate fee applied. Any subsequent reuse or distribution of content licensed under CC BY must maintain attribution to the author(s) and the published article's title, journal citation, and DOI.

Questions regarding Creative Commons, Copyright Transfer, or Open Access Licensing can be directed to jjphpt@outlook.com.

Author and End-User Reuse Policy

JJPHPT's policies afford authors, their employers, and third parties the right to reuse the author's Accepted Manuscript (AM) or the final publisher Version of Record (VoR) of the article as outlined below:
