内容紹介

This talk will provide an overview of Machine Translation technologies and related Natural Language Processing technologies. Starting with simple questions like "Why is MT so difficult to build?", I will describe various NLP element technologies, illustrating fundamental challenges of MT and representative approaches to those problems. I will then present two major approaches to MT. One is Rule-Based MT which has been since the early period of MT development extensively used in MT products, and the other is Statistical MT which has recently been quite actively studied and used in many universities and large companies around the world. Several demos of practical applications of MT technologies will also be presented if time allows.
